David Niles and Jim Weiss founded the company in 2004 after working together for several years at Milwaukee's Small Business Times, Niles as the paper's founding editor and Weiss as its associate publisher. Niles worked for weekly and daily papers in Wisconsin since 1979, while Weiss has worked for marketing and media companies in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois since that time.

PKI Presents on 2012 Marketing, PR Trends to MAC Roundtable

Jan. 5, 2011 -- Trends in marketing and public relations for 2012 were presented to members of a Milwaukee Athletic Club roundtable by Productive Knowledge's David Niles and The Publicity Hound - Joan Stewart. The discussion included a look at the importance of communities in social media, quality of social media content, the need to keep lead generation in mind when doing online PR and marketing, and more. PKI's Niles Re-Elected to MPC Endowment Board of Directors

Dec. 1, 2011 -- Productive Knowledge co-owner David Niles has been re-elected to the board of directors of the MPC Endowment, Ltd. The endowment, affiliated with the Milwaukee Press Club, supports journalism education. Niles, who had been serving as president of the endowment board, is now serving as the organization's treasurer.

Productive Knowledge Announces New Clients for Branding, Website, Social Media Projects

July 7, 2011 -- Productive Knowledge Inc. (PKI) welcomes three new clients for a variety of in depth marketing and public relations work. PKI is handling strategic planning, internal communications, brand development, website development and marketing communications for HealthReach Rehab, a Brookfield-based rehabilitation business with 12 clinics in Wisconsin and 200 employees. PKI is working with Purely Medgas, Mukwonago, a new business, on brand development, strategic planning, website development and traditional and online marketing and public relations, including social media planning and execution. PKI also is working with Perspective Media, Brookfield, to extend its construction industry media services, especially its online presence, including website development, social media, and its industry event planning for Wisconsin and Florida. PKI recently planned and launched social media campaigns for two existing clients, Steele Solutions Inc., a national manufacturer of industrial mezzanines based in Franklin, and for Quality Catering for Kids, a Lake Villa, Ill.-based caterer of hot lunches for child care centers and private grade schools.

PKI's Niles Will Moderate Senate Candidate Forum

Oct. 4, 2010 -- Productive Knowledge Inc. principal David Niles will moderate the Oct. 12 forum with the two candidates for Wisconsin's 5th Senate District: incumbent Jim Sullivan and challenger Leah Vukmir, who is currently in the State Assembly. Niles will moderate a panel of journalists who will pose questions to the candidates. He will do so on behalf of the Wauwatosa Chamber of Commerce and the Milwaukee Press Club. The forum will take place at Wauwatosa West High School.

Nov. 11, 2009 -- Productive Knowledge Marketing and Public Relations of Brookfield has been engaged to provide brand development for Road Widener LLC of Oconomowoc. Work includes strategic planning, brand development, sales and marketing materials, publicity, trade show materials and a web site. Road Widener LLC developed a smaller sized road widener as a skid steer attachment for contractors, landscapers and others needing to efficiently work on shoulders, driveways, trails and paths.

Productive Knowledge Inc. Moves to Stonewood Village Offices

Jan. 2, 2009 -- Productive Knowledge Inc. has moved to offices at Stonewood Village on Capitol Drive in Brookfield. The four-year-old company focuses on strategies that leverage the Internet for public relations and marketing.

“We’re serving business owners who want to reach their audiences in the most efficient way possible, and who understand that online strategies are a key way to realize those efficiencies,” said David Niles, vice president of Productive Knowledge Inc.

The business also provides traditional marketing and PR services with a wide range of expertise built over 30 years of communications experience.

May 10, 2008 -- Construction-related companies need to stress benefits along with their expertise when marketing their green building expertise in the commercial real estate sector, according to a recent study.

Productive Knowledge to Present at BizTech Expo, Green Health Care Facilities Conference

April 22, 2008 -- Productive Knowledge Inc. principals David Niles and Jim Weiss will offer insights into the marketing of green products and services during two upcoming events.

The two will be joined by Degree Of Green™ creator Andy Pace in a discussion of greenwashing and how to credibly market green products and services. That presentation will be part of the BizTech Expo at the Wisconsin State Fair Park on April 30. Niles, Weiss and Pace will discuss the Degree Of Green program and other initiatives to give consumers clear and straightforward information on green and healthy attributes of products. The talk will run from 9:45-10:30 in the expo’s Seminar Room D.

Then, on May 6, Niles and Weiss will lead a discussion on green as it relates to health care facilities. That presentation, The Marketing Value of Green in Health Care, takes place during the Going Green: A Perscription for A Healthier Building conference, organized by the Wisconsin Green Building Alliance. The conference takes place at the Country Springs Hotel in Pewaukee, with the marketing session from 3-4:15 p.m.

Oct. 18, 2007 -- A two-year study orchestrated by students at the UW-Whitewater recently released its findings showing college students' lack of perception of career opportunities in Wisconsin.The study, which was directed by Productive Knowledge, Inc. of Elm Grove, Wis., was carried out by students of UW-Whitewater lecturer Bill Lowell's public opinion classes over the course of two years and provided results directly from college students across Wisconsin: the source previous studies may not have been focusing on effectively.
